A site the whole family will love . . .
Butter Meadow

The Dewhirst family have run Dornafield for nearly 25 years. Peter and his late wife Tina bought the derelict farmhouse in 1973. Keen caravanners themselves, they spotted its potential and, with the help of younger son Simon and now his older brother Alistair, have nurtured it and fashioned it into the luxurious award winning site it is now. Relaxing in the peaceful surroundings of our beautiful South Devon countryside you are perfectly situated to reach the lively beaches of the English Riviera with all its attractions, the rugged majesty of Dartmoor or the quiet coves of the South Hams. Devon was voted the county with the best quality of life in the UK and Dornafield's friendly and knowledgeable staff can show you how to enjoy it - come and explore!

Dornafield House

The fourteenth-century farmhouse, once besieged by irate Roundheads in the Civil War, is the focal point of the site and all the farm buildings have been adapted for your use. The farmyard where the herd of Devon longhorn cattle used to wait to be milked is now more likely to see gatherings of caravanners watching Morris Dancing or enjoying a barbecue - we have no club house on site but hold several events during the season and have two excellent local inns within walking distance. Alongside the courtyard are the farm buildings, now housing our Information Room - crammed full of ideas for a happy holiday - Reception and the Site Shop where you can order your paper and pick up your croissants and organic milk, and last but not least the Games Room - formerly the milking parlour but now offering table tennis, a pool table and darts. The children also have two Adventure Playgrounds in the woods and there are swings, a sandpit and even a living willow den for the young ones!

Loo of the Year

"Wow" was the first comment from a new visitor last summer and both our loo and shower blocks definitely have the wow factor - luxurious, light and spacious with ample facilities, abundant hot water and even fresh flowers from the garden! They are worthy winners of numerous "Loo of the Year" awards, and complement our generous, all-weather fully-serviced pitches perfectly. We and our staff are passionate about our bit of South Devon and we have tried to create the perfect holiday home from home for our visitors, many of whom - like the swallows in our big barn - return year after year.

They're Back!! Summer officially arrived at Dornafield on 8th April with the arrival of our first swallows for 2009. So why not come and join them from 14th April and pay only £72 for a week of luxury caravanning or camping in Devon on one of our famous Super Seven Savers!
